fragrance spritzes

GF Ferre for Her - floral, simple, pretty. It's ok. Thumbs sideways.

GF Ferre for Him - darker, more woodsy? Reminds me of a fragrance that I can't talk about yet. Would like to smell it on a guy, but I think Omnia is more interesting. Thumbs sideways.

L'Eau par Kenzo for Women - light, methinks these are ozone notes. Not bad. Thumbs sideways.

Flower by Kenzo - what the heck? It smells... like some common chemical that escapes me at the moment. All I can come up with is fragrant nail polish, but that's not it. Household detergent? Ajax? Laf. I don't know what, but it's a very straightforward smell. Laf. Flower?!? Thumbs down, although it's not bad or boring; it just doesn't smell good on me.

And that was all the real estate I had available to test with.

Hi Kuri!

Hope you are doing great these days!

I also don't like Kenzo's "Flower" at all, but love its "Oriental" version, the one with the black peony, calligraphy-style.

The little parchment roll inside the box says it's a combination of "Flower" (the original) with Kyara, "a rare and precious incense wood in Japan" - still according to the text.

While I cannot detect any simmilarities with the impulsive, in-your-face almost, floral qualities of the former, I think this new rendition is quite lovely: woodsy, slightly vanillic maybe, and subtly powdery in the base notes. Very comfortable, especially for those colder, windy days.

Did you try this already?
:)

I'm doing ok. Hope you are doing well! I just read about Flower Oriental the other day at perfumecritic.com; it sounds lovely though I don't know much about incense notes. I haven't actually run across it in person yet. I'd also like to try Summer by Kenzo; have you tried it?

Hi Kuri!

No, I haven't tried "Summer" yet, though I really love Kenzo's fragrances, and I'm always looking for yet another Summer scent. I still remember his "Le Monde Este Beau", from some years ago, a nice blend of passion-fruit and other citrussy notes. I am not sure if it's discontinued or not, for I did not see it anymore in the shelves. Ah well, it was sooo lovely...

I will read your new post now! Have a wonderful weekend,

a.

Le Monde Est Beau sounds lovely. It does seem to be discontinued though, as I couldn't find it on the website. There seem to be quite a few online stores selling it though. I'll have to get a sample. I'm not sure where I can find Flower Oriental in physical stores here. I'll have to look around.
